If the missing licenses are detected during a license audit conducted by the software producer at the company, the producer can also typically demand that the company covers the audit costs.

Many corporations organize themselves in a way where the group operates as one entity on a day-to-day basis. However, this organizational structure is rarely reflected in the software license agreements. Therefore, it is not guaranteed that a parent company is allowed to use its licenses in subsidiaries or in connection with outsourcing IT operations.
