VIKINGBUS strengthens its position in North Zealand through the acquisition of local bus company

Denmark's leading private bus operator, VIKINGBUS, announces yet another major acquisition. This time in North Zealand with the local player, FHB (Frederikssund Handibusser A/S), specializing in minibus transportation.

FHB becomes an integrated part of VIKINGBUS, strengthening its position as Denmark's leading nationwide bus company with strong local roots. Lund Elmer Sandager has advised the sellers of Frederikssund Handibusser A/S on the sale to VIKINGBUS, who is owned by Polaris. Our M&A team was led by Partner Sebastian Rungby and included Attorney Jonas Tofte Bøndergaard and Assistant Attorney Camilla Martinsen.

With the acquisition of FHB, the VIKINGBUS' presence, especially in North Zealand, including the cities of Frederikssund, Frederiksværk, Ølstykke and Hillerød, is significantly strengthened. After 11 January 2024, VIKINGBUS has control over no less than 550 minibuses and a total of almost 1,200 buses, employing over 2,200 people.

FHB is a family-owned company founded in 1987. The company consists of 44 buses and 55 employees. FHB provides transportation solutions in collaboration with Frederikssund Municipality, Rødovre Municipality, the Capital Region and Movia Flextrafik serving nursing homes, schools and institutions across Zealand. The company's CEO is Rikke Bang Bjerreby, who has led the company for the past 10 years and previously ran the business with her father for a period of time. Rikke Bang Bjerreby will join the management team at VIKINGBUS upon the takeover.
