1877 - now

We have much to be proud of at LES. One of the things we take pride in is being one of the oldest law firms in Denmark, dating all the way back to 1877.

Proud Traditions and Innovation

On 22 May 1877, High Court Attorney Gerson Oppenhejm founded the law firm Oppenhejm & Prangen, which, through mergers and organic growth, has evolved into what has since become LES.

1877

Oppenhejm & Prangen

On 22 May 1877, High Court Attorney Gerson Oppenhejm founded the law firm Oppenhejm & Prangen, marking the first milestone in the history of LES, as the firm later became "Lund" in Lund Elmer Sandager.

1905

Søren Andersen Advokatselskab

Søren Andersen founded his law firm, Søren Andersen Advokatselskab in Copenhagen. This marks the first step in what would become "Sandager" in Lund Elmer Sandager.

1945

Søren Andersen Advokatselskab

Erik Sandager becomes assistant attorney at Søren Andersen's law firm. Erik stays with the firm and later obtains the right to appear before the Supreme Court.

1948

Henrik B. Elmer Advokatselskab

High Court Attorney Henrik B. Elmer establishes his own law firm, Henrik B. Elmer Advokatselskab, at Bredgade 58 in Copenhagen. The firm later relocates to Kronprinsessegade. In the picture is Henrik B. Elmer. This firm would later become "Elmer" in Lund Elmer Sandager.

1974

Henrik B. Elmer Advokatselskab

Henrik B. Elmer hires his son, Attorney Jørgen B. Elmer.

1980

Jørgen B. Elmer Advokatselskab

In 1980, Henrik B. Elmer passes away. Jørgen B. Elmer continues running the law firm. The firm is relocated to Nikolaj Plads 26, Copenhagen.

1985

Ditlevsen & Lund

Paul Lund, Esben Bisgaard, Ole Peter Ditlev Ditlevsen, and Kjeld Jørgensen establish the law firm Ditlevsen & Lund. The office is located at Rådhuspladsen 39.

1986

‘A youthful law firm’

The seed for mergers and the vision of "a youthful law firm" is sown at Hotel Opera, where, among others, Attorneys Carsten Brink, Erik Hovgaard, and Mads Gierding meet to discuss their visions. Their goal was to create a law firm that engaged with clients on an equal footing.

1989

Oppenhejm/Partnere

On 1 June 1989, Oppenhejm & Prangen merges with Berg & Gierding to form Oppenhjem/Partnere, a law firm located at Rådhuspladsen 59.

1989

Søren Andersen Advokatselskab

In 1989, Erik Sandager and Jørn Thaysen move to Amagertorv 21 and share office space with Kønig, Homann and Christoffersen.

1990

Andersen, Elmer & Baruch

Jørgen B. Elmer merges with Supreme Court Attorneys Philip Baruch and Thore Andersen to form the law firm Andersen, Elmer & Baruch. In the picture is Jørgen B. Elmer.

The firm operates from Vimmelskaftet 43 and consists of 3 partners, 3 attorneys, and 2-3 associates, along with 5-6 secretaries and a full-time bookkeeper. Later, a collaboration began with other attorneys at the address, and the firm operated under the name Thyregod & Elmer.

1991

Sandager Advokater

Sandager Advokatfirma (later Sandager Advokater) is established as of 1 January 1991, located at Amagertorv 21 by

- Hans Christoffersen, Henrik Steen Andersen, and Steen Raagaard Andersen's law firm,

- Søren Andersen Advokatselskab with Erik Sandager and Jørn Thaysen,

- Michael Zigler's law firm.

Supreme Court Attorney Erik Sandager joins the firm as a senior partner.

1992

Oppenhejm Lund & Partnere

On 18 May 1992, Oppenhjem/Partnere merges with Ditlevsen & Lund, a law firm located at Esplanaden 6 in Copenhagen. The new name becomes Oppenhejm Lund & Partnere.

1999

Flagstad Lund Elmer

Merger between Andersen, Elmer & Baruch, and Flagstad Advokater, consisting of Poul Lund, Carsten Brink, Mads Gierding, and Kjeld Jørgensen. The firm operates under the name Flagstad Lund Elmer from newly constructed premises at Kalvebod Brygge 39, Copenhagen, with a total of 30 employees.

2001

Lund │ Elmer

Flagstad Advokater withdraw. The firm continues to operate under the name Lund Elmer.

2002

Lund Elmer Sandager

Sandager Advokater relocate to Kalvebod Brygge 39-41, Copenhagen, and merges with Lund Elmer Law Firm. The firm is now a full-service law firm with 60 employees, including 23 lawyers.
