COVID-19: All restrictions expire 31 January 2022

The number of people hospitalized due to COVID-19 no longer increases at the same pace as infection rates. Therefore, the Government has decided that COVID-19 from 1 February 2022 should no longer be categorized as a socially critical disease. However, it is still possible to use certain compensation schemes.

All restrictions connected with the categorization of Covid-19 as a socially critical disease will be removed by the end of January 2022.

The removal of the restrictions involve, that:

  • Restaurants etc, can stay open without restrictions regarding closing hours, area requirements, and sales hours for alcohol
  • nightlife can reopen
  • it is possible to sell alcohol in retail shops after 10pm
  • arcades, casinos, playgrounds and water parks can reopen
  • assembly halls and function rooms can open for private parties
  • fairs, lecturers and conferences can take place with no limitations to the amount of participants
  • no requirement for face masks and corona passes for customers and employees in shops, restaurants and the rest of the business community
  • continued possibility of certain compensations

Companies that, despite the reopening, are still experiencing a decline in turnover of more than 30%, can still apply for compensation for fixed costs until 28 February 2022. The same applies to the scheme for the self-employed, etc. Read our previous newsletter about the compensation’s schemes here.

It is also possible to apply for compensation under the organizer scheme 14 days after the termination of the restrictions, if this can be approved by the state.

The general pay compensation scheme is also valid until 15 February 2022.

With the removal of the restrictions, it is no longer possible to close your business voluntarily and receive compensation.

The tightened requirements for testing upon entry in Denmark will be removed from 1 February 2022, while the entry restrictions that applied before the introduction of the tightened requirements will continue to apply until 28 February 2022.
