Meet Sophie

Sophie started as a student assistant at LES in August 2022 and has since developed her legal expertise within the Corporate Commercial team where she now serves as an assistant attorney.
"I sent an unsolicited application to LES and was invited for an interview for a student assistant position in Insolvency. However, I ended up being offered a role in Corporate Commercial, which was a great fit for me since I already had experience with corporate law," Sophie recalls.
From the very beginning, Sophie experienced significant responsibility in her role as a student assistant. She was entrusted with her own tasks and had the opportunity to follow cases from start to finish, which she found particularly valuable for her professional growth.
"It was incredibly educational to be involved in full case processes. My impression is that student assistants often only handle small parts of a larger case, but that wasn’t the case at LES."
This experience gave Sophie a solid understanding of all stages of case handling — from receiving the case and corresponding with clients to drafting legal documents and archiving the case upon completion.

Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to handle my own cases, identify legal issues, assess their defensibility and determine the best course of action, then receive feedback from an experienced attorney on my approach."
The opportunity to independently assess cases and take responsibility for legal decisions has provided Sophie with valuable experience, which she now applies in her role as assistant attorney.
Sophie greatly appreciates the informal and supportive culture in her team where constructive feedback is a key part of learning.
"Of course, there’s a clear role structure, but we still work at eye level and listen to each other. If mistakes happen, they are seen as learning opportunities. This was incredibly valuable for me as a student assistant, as it allowed me to continuously improve," she explains.
This encouraging atmosphere has given Sophie the confidence to take responsibility and actively contribute her perspective to cases — something she believes is essential for becoming a strong attorney.
